Chrysler to sell hybrid SUV for US$5,000 cheaper than GM

The third-largest U.S. automaker set the prices of its new gasoline-electric large sport-utility vehicles about US$5,000 lower than those of General Motors Corp. models that use the same technology.

Frontier Pacific accepts revised Eldorado bid

Frontier Pacific Mining Corp. said it agreed to a revised takeover offer from Eldorado Gold Corp.
The bid includes 0.122 of an Eldorado share, $0.0001 in cash and one exchange receipt per Frontier Pacific share, Vancouver-based Frontier Pacific said today in a statement.

ATS Automation swings to Q4 profit

ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. swung to a profit in the fourth quarter, as it restructured its business as part of a plan to return to profitability, the company said on Wednesday.
ATS, which makes manufacturing and other industrial equipment, said it earned $7.9-million, or 10 cents a share, in the three months ended March 31, compared with a loss of $80.8-million, or $1.35 cents a share, in the same period the year before.

Miners paid Canadian governments $11B in 2006

An industry report released on Wednesday says the Canadian mining industry contributed almost $11-billion to the coffers of government in fiscal 2006, the most recent year to be calculated.
The sum is a 50% rise over the roughly $5.5-billion paid to the federal and provincial governments by the industry in 2005 thanks in large part to soaring prices for metals around the world, according to the report from the Mining Association of Canada.
