How do I plan for the unexpected?

It seems almost absurd to think one can plan for the unexpected. Other than getting insurance, how can small business owners plan for something they might not even imagine could happen? How could any of us, for example, have prepared for 9/11 and its human, social and economic impact? And yet, North Americans and their businesses adapted, recovered and kept going. Why? Resilience. Planning for the unexpected is all about planning for resilience.

Oil near US$143 on Monday

Oil rose more than US$3 a barrel on Monday to a new record above US$143, propelled by heightened market fears of conflict between Israel and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program. U.S. light crude was up US$2.55 at US$142.76 a barrel by 7:12 a.m. EDT, after a record high of US$143.67 a barrel.
