Oil extends slide below US$130 a barrel

Oil dropped by US$5 on Thursday, extending a decline of about 12% from last week’s record on worries over U.S. demand and easing political tensions between Iran and the West over the OPEC producer’s nuclear program.

Canada will dodge recession, BoC says

The Bank of Canada continues to expect Canada to escape a recession in the first half of 2008, raising slightly in fact its projection for second quarter growth.
The bank also downplayed the rise in inflation expectations among many Canadian businesses, saying they could reverse quickly if volatile energy prices stabilize.
